Works in stock Walter Ernest Webster, RP, ROI, RI (1878-1959) was a well-known painter of portraits and figure subjects in both oil and watercolour.  He was born in Manchester and studied art at the Royal College of Art in South Kensington, and later at the Royal Academy Schools.  Webster exhibited at the Royal Academy extensively from 1904-1959 and was elected a member of the prestigious Royal Society of Portrait Painters, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours.  He also exhibited widely in the provinces, and abroad, receiving bronze, silver and gold medals at the Paris Salon respectively in 1912, 1913 and 1931. His work is represented in a number of public collections including the Government Art Collection, Gallery Oldham, Glasgow Museums, Paisley Museum & Art Galleries, the Walker Art Gallery Liverpool and Williamson Art Gallery Birkenhead.  Webster lived in Parsons Green in south west London for many years.
