Walter Taylor, LG (1860-1943) was a well known painter of town scenes, landscapes and interiors in both oil and watercolour. He was born in Leeds, trained as an architect and later took up painting. Taylor exhibited with the New English Art Club 1909-1921 and he was a founder member of the London Group in 1913, exhibiting there until 1934. He worked in France from time to time, occasionally in company with Walter Sickert, and also painted extensively in both London and Brighton and Hove. His first one-man show was held in 1911 at the Grafton Gallery in London. He lived in Brighton for a time but mainly in London. A memorial show was held at The Leicester Galleries in London W1 in 1944.
