Nancy Sharp (1909-2001) was well known painter mainly of portraits, figure subjects and still lifes. She was born in Truro and studied art at Chelsea School of Art and then at The Slade School. A contemporary at the Slade was William Coldstream, whom she married in 1931.  They divorced in 1942 and Sharp married Michael Spender in 1943.  Nancy Sharp exhibited with the London Group and at the Royal Academy 1947-58 and again in 1981.  Her work is represented in the Government Art Collection and in the National Portrait Gallery. She lived in Hampstead for many years.
