E M O'R Dickey...
Works in stock Edward Montgomery O'Rorke Dickey (1894-1977) was a well-known painter, engraver, art teacher and curator.  He was born in Belfast and educated at Wellington College and Cambridge University.  Dickey studied art under Harold Gilman at Westminster School of Art.  He exhibited at the Royal Academy 1923-57, at the New English Art Club 1916-32, the London Group, Royal Hibernian Academy, Royal Cambrian Academy, and with the Society of Wood Engravers of which group he was a founder member.  Dickey was art master at Oundle School 1924-26; Professor of Fine Art, King's College, University of Durham 1926-31; and later Curator, The Minories, Colchester, Essex.  His work is held in a number of public collections including the British Museum, the Ulster Museum, Laing Art Gallery in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and Manchester Art Gallery.  He was created CBE 1952.
