Works in stock Claude Bendall (1891-1970) was a painter of figure subjects and portraits in gouache and watercolour.  He was born at Boscastle and showed great promise as a pianist in his early years but took up art instead, studying in Paris. Bendall exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1943 and with the New English Art Club 1944-57. He found his subjects in England, France and Ireland and painted many scenes of gypsy life.  He lived at Wrotham in Kent.
